About Us & Our Values
Our story, our mission, and the foundational principles guiding our community.
Who We Are & Our Mission
Born in Liberia, I came to the United States with my mother and older brother in 1989, carrying hopes for greater opportunity, stability, and a better future. Second Chance MA is a family-founded sober living community built on resilience, compassion, and an unwavering commitment to helping others rebuild their lives.
Our mission is to provide safe, clean, structured, and dignified transitional housing for individuals who are serious about their recovery and sobriety. We understand that early recovery requires more than just a place to live—it demands a supportive, accountable, and positive environment where guests can discover who they are, heal from the past, and prepare to tackle the most productive years of their lives.
This community is inspired by the memory of my beloved nephew, whom I helped raise and loved as a son, and my older brother, his devoted father. After my nephew passed away in 2024 from complications related to dangerously low platelets, our family was forever changed. Despite his grief, my brother continued working tirelessly to support his two daughters until his passing from pancreatic cancer in 2026.
Although life did not unfold as we had imagined, my brother and I never lost our commitment to creating safety, stability, and hope for the next generation. Recovery is about overcoming adversity and finding a path forward, no matter how difficult the journey has been.
Today, I carry that commitment forward for my children and my brother’s daughters. Their strength, along with our family’s journey from Liberia to the United States, inspires me to provide a structured and nurturing foundation for those fighting for their sobriety.
Second Chance MA is more than a sober living home. It is a family-inspired community built on mutual accountability, dependable support, and a lasting legacy of hope. Through every house meeting, weekly screening, and shared milestone, I strive to honor the people who shaped me and help others build a healthier, brighter future.
“In memory of my nephew. In honor of my brother. For our children and their future.
We recover with purpose.”
